Our new Whiz, Zip & Zap Pictorial Cookbook and coordinating curricula, Storytime Cooks (pre-K through 2nd grade) and Whiz, Zip & Zap It! (3rd-6th grade) is expected to be available by August 1, 2009.

After 25 years of cooking with kids and families with pictorial recipes, we are excited to introduce a new edition featuring new recipes along with old favorites. EAT SMALL Talks to Tweens about Portion Control

A media campaign in Kansas City is talking to tweens about the size of their food portions. The “EAT Small” campaign is offered in contrast to competing messages from big food advertisers.

Key messages such as “Don’t Supersize Me!” are being disseminated throughout the community, thanks to funding from the Healthcare Foundation of Greater Kansas City. Televisions spots produced by campaign partner KCPT air on KCPT and Time Warner Cable during programming that reaches tweens. The messages focus on sharing a box of popcorn; eating one taco, not three and saying “no thanks” to second portions. Billboards in Kansas City and Wyandotte County as well as Metro city buses reinforce the message that tweens don’t want to be supersized.

For more information about the campaign go to www.mchc.net or contact Yvonne Dorsey at the Mother and Child Health Coalition. Her number is 816- 283-6242 or email her at ydorsey@mchc.net.
